today is the day. we are heading out soon for parts known and unknown. for the past week we've holed up at my brother Dwight's while taking care of last minute details before the departure. the hospitality has been wonderful.
1000 goodbyes - during the past 3 weeks we've said our goodbyes to people at church, at work, to our neighbors, our cars and house, many friends, preschool classmates, family... none of which has been easy. good or bad, i can't shed any tears. i can't breach that levee or it may drown the city. i will say it has been a special send off by all. of course, when people know you're leaving they love you(John Gorka gets credit for the line) -- not that they wouldn't otherwise, it's just that this step has been the focus of our lives for so long and so many have been rooting us on - we leave our various communities knowing they will not quite be the same again, for better or worse.
still, the adventure lies ahead. parts known and unknown. we'll post more pictures later. goodbye old friend. hello sverige!

I am so excited for your family, yet I am sad....sad to have to say good bye after only just saying hello after many years. Thankfully through the technology of email you will never seem far away even though you will be a world away. Peace be with you, Monika and the boys.
