training wheels back on

Sam is learning to ride a two wheeler. He's outgrown his tricycle, and might be just a little small for Jake's current bike 'Blue' but his first session out was great.

In a selfless gesture big brother offered Blue to Sam to learn on so we refitted the training wheels. He threw in advice too when he could.

We prepped Sam by telling him he was going to fall down. And when he did, we didn't run to him to make him panic. He'd get up, brush himself off and hop back on. Not even a whimper. We went to a pretty safe place though. Long stretch of flat pavement, no cars, and grass to the right and left.

Next spring I think Jake is anticipating a new bike, and likely, Sam. Conveniently, cousin Jonathon has left an old one here that Jake can also ride in the meantime. It may be a little while before Sam can ride himself down to the harbor with Dad & Jakob but we are proud how he's trying.
