Since this has been the week of sportslov and the boys were out of school we decided to stay in town at morfar's apartment for a couple days. We thought it might be a nice change for the boys and since we were going to a couple museums in town this week it made sense.

It is a one room efficiency that looks out over Lake Malaren, a fresh water lake that flows into Stockholm Harbor. Though it is small it's three subway stops and a block walk for Mon from her work vs. the usual two hour round trip commute from and to Stavsnäs everyday.

It is a little small for two active boys though the neighbors only knocked once on their ceiling during the boys' balloon volleyball match. One of the days we stayed in since Sammy was sick. Throughout the day we watched the lake thaw into chunks and refreeze by the next morning. These pictures were from right before we left. Some guy was walking around on it. He probably wouldn't have if he had seen it yesterday.
In the distance is Stockholm City Hall where the Nobel awards banquet is held.

Very cool. Sounds like a nice outing. I remember the days of neighbors below when it was me and the toddler playing. Funny how sound magnifies like a drum between floors.

The boys have never lived in an apartment therefore it was hard to grasp that people were all around us, especially whenever we would leave and the hallways were completely empty. In our demographic the game is always in play.
I have a feeling we couldn't live in a condo either.
I walked out on the frozen Ohio River in 1978(?). Got as far as the first bridge pier and said "OK, that's enough."
Smart man. I remember that winter. Brrrrr.....
