lucia dagen

Today, 12/13, was St. Lucia day in Sweden. A day heavy in tradition and in the collective mind of Swededom, especially parents and kids. For more info, click on 'tomten & pepparkaka boy' from the previous post. Just sitting down now after attending two Lucia processions on the corners of our day. One required a kid to be there at 7:15 a.m. and one required a kid to be there at 5:30 p.m. They call the procession a train because all the kids come in in a line, starting with Lucia.

Note to self: Lucia day is a neat, long day for parents and kids, breaking up these dark winter days. Our kids liked it, but are in bed an hour early tonight and they didn't even know it.
