georgia aquarium

With a day to kill in Atlanta we decided to check out the Georgia Aquarium. We wanted to see how it compared with the aquarium in Valencia, Spain. The Georgia Aquarium boasts it is the largest aquarium 'under one roof.'

The Spanish aquarium didn't have one of these guys or a single tank this big. It holds three 15' whale sharks as well as hundreds of other fish and is as big as a football field.

A very playful beluga whale. He was on the move and fully engaged with the crowd.

Sam & Jake in the river exhibit.

Jake & Sam spinning the light in the light house. Great play area.
This is 'Deepo', strangely like that other orange fish. So happens that the owner of Home 'Depot' funded the aquarium as a gift to the city. Overall the Georgia Aquarium was great as was L'Oceanagrafic in Spain. I wonder if the aquarium in Spain might be a little bigger overall. It certainly had many more walk through aquariums, perhaps marine life variety and the dolfin show was great. Mon liked the layout better in Georgia than Spain. No up and down and in and out of separate buildings. It also seemed like the Georgia Aquarium had more for kids to do, touch tanks, 3-D show and a huge play area, pluses for any parent. Hmm... The city of Atlanta was a very pleasant surprise. Very warm and friendly wherever we went. Even though our trip was not planned we may have to go back there some day.

Nice snaps. Hard to do in that kind of setting.
