åsele and rörtjarn

Mormor grew up on a farm in Åsele in northern Sweden with her four siblings. Every year the town hosts a market and many return for it.
This is Sam 's summer job. At least his shirt says so.
Aunt Astrid is quick to help in the kitchen.
There was a time when it was traditional to have a bench like this in the kitchen. It'd be neat to make one some day.
This is the cabin we stayed in in Åsele. Again, cool to build some day. Man I miss those tools.
Bluebells along the gravel road up to the house.

The house mormor grew up in.
Mormor, brother Anders and his wife Görel, sister Astrid and her son Daniel.
We also drove over to see morfar and Tina since we were up that way. The cabin is near a small lake called Rörtjarn. Morfar built a ladder up to the sleeping loft out of an oak tree from Lådholmen. The kids thought that was pretty cool.

Sleeping loft.

Hunting wild mushrooms with morfar.

Rörtjarn cabin. Morfar summers here every year.
This was a hanging bench that morfar built. I think the boys look like this because the sun is in their eyes. This was on the front side of our nine hour drive home.
Nine hours by car up to Åsele, five hours across to Rörtjarn, nine hours back to Stockholm. Phew. That is a lot of driving but the guys did great. We made a promise that this was our last long car trip of the summer, which unfortunately starts to wind down on Monday when Mommy heads back to work. She has been off work since June 19th. Back to work. We are glad we made the trip. More pictures on Bake n Spam.
