green acres

Or gröna hectares for those in ECT zone - european central time. An acre = .04... hectare or roughly the size of Uncle Dwight & Aunt Julie's yard in Cincinnati. Mormor says she has approximately 4500 sq meters, or just a little over an acre. This is a picture after the spring meteor shower. (It's a joke Tracy). You could call it scorched earth policy but Napoleon is not invading. Mormor burns the previous year's dead grass every Spring.

This is a bed of Lupine and other stuff where we are going to plant/build a big garden. In the center you will notice a lone lilac bush (I smell a useful visual cue) and fruit trees to the south. In the background is the neighbor's equipment compound. He has a business of building docks and running supplies out to islands in the archipeligo. He's a good guy but the compound is not the prettiest thing to look at. Mon has a goal of planting a hedgerow.
Another view, below. Lone lilac in the middle, the first of three fruit trees to the north. This is almost as exciting as watching pumpkins grow, I know. This area was once a small farm - 20 - 30? or so acres. It's now been broken up into smaller plots. Many distant relatives to the farmer still live around here. Because we are all dependent on well water building new homes in the area is limited and drilling new wells is prohibited. We are fortunate to have our own great well.

More updates as progress is made. Would you like a wake up call?
