It's that time of year when baked goods sneak up on you - at the office, at people's gatherings, yes, even at home. We decided on a preemptive attack. Dad picked up some premade pepparkakor dough at the store, only because it was there for the holidays. That and the cookie cutters from Thanksgiving needed a real workout besides holding the turkey up.

In Sweden 'pepparkakor' is one of the favorite cookie flavors. It's somewhere between gingerbread and pumpkinbread. Not too sweet, not too boring. When we have people try pumpkin pie for the first time we reference pepparkakor and it's like a light bulb comes on, the familiarity. They then say, there's a market for pumpkin pie here, you should consider going into business... I don't know about that, though they may have a valid point.

We had some icing and sprinkles in the cabinet. Mon decorated these after John & Jakob cut them out and baked them.

Now they are calling from that box in cabinet. :(

Mormor is involved with a group at a local church. They had a Christmas bazaar this past weekend and she asked if I'd be willing to make some buckeyes for it. Twist my arm. I converted the recipe to metric last year. Mormor ended up selling all the buckeyes she took to the bazaar and we have a little stash for the holidays, for better or worse.
