stuffed chicago style pizza

Sorry, we've had several food themed posts lately. This one probably isn't going to help either. John made a stuffed Chicago style pizza for dinner tonight.

Learned how to from the internet. First the pizza dough: http://www.fabulousfoods.com/privacy-policy/article/46/17753 This is an excellent crust recipe for all pizza lovers. Then the stuffed Chicago variety: http://video.about.com/americanfood/Chicago-Deep-Dish-Pizza.htm You see, this far from home you have to scratch that American itch sometimes. Swedish pizza just isn't the same. This stuffed pizza was one similar to one Mio's had in Hyde Park back home.

Just out of the oven and after the form mold was taken off. You can put in your own ingredients, like any pizza. We had homemade sausage (like 'breakfast' sausage back in the States, i.e. Bob Evans, Jimmy Dean), green peppers, red onions, mozzerella cheese and grated padano cheese.

The top layer of breading acts almost like an additional loaf of bread. I think next time we might use a little less dough than the recipe calls for. Needless to say, one slice and you are almost full. Two slices and you are stuffed.
I'll say one thing living on an island in Sweden and having the internet sure has made John a better cook.

Hmmm Thats the deepest crust I've ever seen.

I seem to recall a swedish pancake skillet coming to the states...maybe a us pizza pan needs to travel east...

Your post makes me hungry for Mios...
